I am going to be doing foil highlights in my mother in laws hair this weekend, she has black hair,?

so I would really just like to give her brown pretty highlights. So my question is what is a good lightener to use that wont make her hair turn that orangy color, or red. I want brown pretty highlights in her hair. Do I have to wait until her hair is lifted up to a pale white and then add a color on top of it, and if so do I use a 10 volume?I am going to be doing foil highlights in my mother in laws hair this weekend, she has black hair,?
If you lift to a pale color, then yes, using a 10 vol with the colour will work fine....as 10 volwill simply deposit.

Or you can use a lightener that will only lift to a natural tone....i put a link for you.I am going to be doing foil highlights in my mother in laws hair this weekend, she has black hair,?
any haircolor with a 30 volume peroxide will lift and deposit color. i would not use bleach. i would choose a color that is about 3-5 levels lighter than her natural color, mix with 30 vol. and foil. if her hair is not naturally black color will not lift it, you have to use bleach
